Suad Bejtovic
was born and raised in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where my father helped me fall in love with photography by giving me my first camera as a gift for my 11th birthday. Since then, I’ve been unlocking the many secrets of photography and thoroughly enjoying myself in the process. A US resident since 1997, and citizen since 2004, I’ve been fascinated with my new homeland, and especially its western portions, with National Parks and the abundance of other scenic areas and public lands. In 2014, I turned my love of photography into a business, which specializes in portrait photography. I still embark on personal projects and adventures, both in portrait and landscape photography. Current project “Frisco Friends – A Film Series”, in which I take casual portraits of my friends on black-and-white film, can be found on Facebook and Instagram.
I enjoy offering my skills to area nonprofits and volunteering; I teach Continuing Education photography classes at the Collin County Community College. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, and I’m also a Communications Director for Visual Arts Guild of Frisco.
Photography is magic – an intersection of art and science. When I point my camera toward a subject, I am adding to the worldwide art collection, and I am inspired by many masters who came before. Most of all, I am inspired by Nature itself and my desire to capture its beauty and majesty. And while mountains and rivers will have changed little in my lifetime, the human subjects change from one moment to the next. Those moments we create together bring joy, pride, and lasting memories. Bringing out the best in people is a joint effort, and the pursuit of portraits as collaborative art is what energizes me.
Of all my tools, using film is my favorite, as it creates a connection to the past, and my child-like wonder at the world around me. It still challenges me to see the world in a different way, to slow down and appreciate it.
The world is a beautiful place, and I want my art to show at least a fraction of that beauty.
