My name is Joshua Rhodes and I have been creating art my entire life. After pursuing a life in science and philosophy I am back at embracing art full time, with oils being my primary medium. Frisco, TX has been my home since 1996 and I love to watch it grow every day. I took many art classes in Dallas and McKinney as an adolescent but am mostly self taught.
I love to paint pieces that don't just match the color of your room. I strive to do pieces that mean something to the person, a place where they met their wife, or made a big decision in their life, or a place they are perpetually thinking of being while at work. It warms my heart to learn their stories and be a part of the experience. I enjoy giving them something beautiful to look at every day to make them smile and put their day in a positive perspective. Each day brings infinite opportunities! I also love to experiment with new things. Pushing myself to try new techniques in each painting keeps me motivated, interested, and excited to continue improving.
Plein air painting is my most common method and inspiration for painting lately. With several trips to Colorado and traveling around the DFW metroplex to inspire, I love to head out on a trail or park or mountain or river and paint what I see! This really helps me absorb my favorite part of art, the people. The relationships I build with people through art is truly the most amazing aspect of what I do. Painting is fun, but it's where the painting may take me that is the adventure.
Each day offers new opportunities, let us grab them together!
